Alan (Yicheng) Liu
MPhil Biotech Student
Alan was an MPhil in Biotechnology student at Cambridge, learning the fundamental subjects of biology and also gaining extensive wet-laboratory exposure. He has a quantitative background in mathematics, statistics and finance (BSc), and has a few years of working experience in the industry before starting his study at Cambridge. Alan joined the group to optimise a CRISPR-Cas12 based in vitro diagnostic tool for infectious diseases. More specifically, he is working on the production and storage of gRNA and enzymes, in order to enable decentralised reagent manufacturing for CRISPR diagnostics. Alan is very passionate about learning biological and medical knowledge, so as to deepen his understanding of the life science industry. In the long run, he aspires to create transformative impacts on patient communities by combining his solid bioscience, financial and quantitative background.
