Yan Kay Ho
Project & Community Manager
Yan-Kay is the Open Bioeconomy Lab’s Project Manager for Synthetic Biology Toolkits at the University of Cambridge, as well as the Community Manager for the Reagent Collaboration Network (Reclone.org). She has previously worked at Nuclera Nucleics as a Research Scientist in DNA Assembly, and as part of the Synthetic Biology team at Cambridge Consultants. Her MSci was in Natural Sciences at University College London, and she continued there for her PhD in Synthetic Biology and Biotechnology, specialising in Xenobiology.
She co-founded the London SynBio Network as a place for early careers researchers to share and discuss their research, and has been an active member of the iGEM community since 2014. As a current member of the iGEM Human Practices Committee, she joined a team that is exploring frameworks that could help iGEM participants become responsible researchers, innovators, and practitioners.
As a member of the Open Bioeconomy Lab, she’s excited to connect with researchers from all over the world, to share and learn from them the different ways biotechnological research can be carried out in a way that best serves the interests of the environment and society that we live in.
