Afrizal Anggara

MPhil Student, Cambridge

Afrizal completed his BEng in Chemical Engineering at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Indonesia. He is currently an MPhil student in Advanced Chemical Engineering in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge. He is a member of Downing College and generously funded by the Jardine Foundation. He is keen to work on the development of sustainable and low-cost biotechnology. His interests include synthetic biology, drug development, protein engineering and enzyme manufacturing. His research within OBL is focusing on cell-free synthetic biology by investigating the formation of inverted-orientation vesicles in the presence of non-ionic detergents. This project aims to propose an optimised protocol for the production of low-cost cell-free extract using chemical lysis.
