Dr Jon Kirby

Researcher, Cambridge

Jon specialised in medical microbiology and neurology during his undergraduate studies then completed a PhD on Clostridium difficile surface proteins. Jon’s professional background includes work on gastrointestinal infections, developing immunotherapeutics, antibody engineering, formulation development, macromolecular crystallisation and more.  Jon also has experience in the water industry in the UK as a microbiologist, inorganic chemist and business analyst.  World-wide he has worked on water purification issues, guiding tours, and expanded into teaching English and working with communities on local needs.  Jon’s move to The Open Bioeconomy Lab pulls his vast experience into focus on developing tools to enable biotechnology in low-resource contexts.
